Alane Lalonde 2016

Alane Lalonde has been a Saltspring resident for 42 years, living in British Columbia, Canada and has traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Far East. Her passion for photography began when she became an avid gardener.

Travelling throughout Britain gave her the love of shooting architecture.
Over the years, she has participated in numerous photographic workshops and successfully maintained her creativity through her art of seeing.

Her work has been shown at the Photosynthesis Photography show at Artspring for the past 15 years and at the Sooke fine arts show.

For the past 25 years she has been exploring Mexico, mesmerized with its colorful culture and warm-hearted people.

Art, whether it is blown glass, paintings on an old barn, colorful peeled paint, or old hardware on a door from a time gone by is in the eye of the beholder.

Ever since reading The Prophet years ago, Kahlil Gibran has always been one of my favorite writers, this is a quote of his on art.

“Art is a step from what is obvious and well-known toward what is arcane and concealed.”
